Kansas City Wedding Photography – Carolyn and Rich
Carolyn and Rich were married on New Year’s Eve in Kansas City. Photographing this wedding was a real treat for me, for many reasons. My favorite part of my role as a wedding photographer is documenting everything that is unique about a wedding and a couple. A few times, people have asked me if photographing weddings “gets old because they all are the same.” Let’s just say, the day that I believe “all weddings are the same” will be my last day as a wedding photographer! I continue to amazed by each unique wedding and honored that I am invited to be a part of the special day. Carolyn and Rich’s wedding was no different, in that it was TOTALLY different, from the rest. This was the only wedding I’ve ever attended that involved the groom’s party getting ready earlier, and taking longer, than the bride and her party. Rich had four children to help dress! Rich’s oldest son was a groomsman; his daughter was the flower girl; the two youngest boys were ring bearers. I love photographing these busy scenarios because I can be right in the middle of the chaos and no one notices me. The children had been excited for this important day and they all embraced their duties in the wedding party. I also had a blast at this wedding because it was in my favorite city at my favorite time of year. Although the temperatures hovered around ZERO DEGREES, we were all smiles running around the Country Club Plaza for the few minutes before our fingers went numb. Carolyn was a true glamour model, defying the deadly wind and cold in her strapless gown. To top it all, my best friend and talented colleague, Sally Morrow, was there to second-shoot this wedding with me…..icing on the cupcakes, which we tried. They were awesome. Congratulations to the sweet couple, Carolyn and Rich!
Also, shout out to talented floral designer, Emmy-Ray, who did the flowers at this wedding. She also did the flowers at my own wedding and is awesome!
