Kansas City Wedding Photography, Clare and David
Clare and David were married Thanksgiving weekend in Kansas City. On their big day, the temperature dropped, the clouds covered the sky, and the wind picked up, which made for a gorgeous, romantic, winter wedding day! They were married in the morning inside the beautiful Redemptorist Catholic Church Afterwards, we made a brief stop at Liberty Memorial, where Clare’s veil tried to escape us, and then on to Clare’s parents’ home in Cedar Creek, where the wedding party relaxed, ate lunch and took pictures. The reception was at the Intercontinental Hotel on the Country Club Plaza. Thanksgiving weekend is a special time on the Plaza, because it kicks off the annual Plaza Lights, or “Season of Lights,” whatever you want to call it – thousands of people come watch the lights turn on for the season, a winter trademark in Kansas City. For Clare and David’s guests, this meant a beautiful backdrop as they arrived to the reception. For Clare and David, this also meant a beautiful view from their honeymoon suite! Thank you, Clare and David, for allowing me to witness your special day. I went to high school and with Clare’s sister and beautiful Maid of Honor, Allison. Their whole family is near and dear to my heart. So, this was extra special for me. And thank you to my friend and second shooter, Sally Morrow.

I have to share this photo of Mary Jo, Clare’s wonderful mother. I guess Clare and her siblings, Mike and Allison, have been hearing stories for years about their mom losing control while walking down the aisle at her own wedding 30 years ago. So, no one was too surprised when they saw and heard Mary Jo walking down the aisle at Clare’s wedding. Only, Clare didn’t get to see this side of her mom, because she was tucked away in the back of the church. So, thank goodness for photos, right?
